Linen Care

Caring for linen is simple and hassle-free, thanks to its natural durability. However, to maximize the longevity of your linen products, follow these basic guidelines:

Washing Linen

  • Machine Wash: Wash linens separately in lukewarm water (<40°C/104°F) using a gentle cycle and mild detergent. Avoid high temperatures and mixing with heavy items.
  • Hand Wash: Soak in lukewarm water with mild detergent, then gently swish. Avoid wringing or twisting.
  • Do not use bleach or fabric softeners! This will preserve the fibers and their natural absorbency.
  • For less creasing: wash in plenty of space and hang to dry immediately.
  • Stain Treatment: Treat stains promptly with water-detergent solution or club soda. For tougher stains, try baking soda and vinegar.

Drying Linen

Pre-washed linen items can be tumble dried on low heat or no heat. Avoid high temperatures to prevent shrinkage. Air drying is another great option. Shake out linens before hanging them to dry, and lay them flat once mid-dry to avoid stiffness.

Ironing

If you prefer a more formal look, ironing your linen clothing can be a great way to accomplish this. Iron while clothing is still damp for a smoother finish.

Storing

Keep your linen clothing in a cool dry place. Do not store in plastic bags as clothing made from natural fibers like flax need to breathe. An old pillowcase or a cloth bag would allow ventilation and be a better choice.

Remember, linen only gets softer and stronger with each wash if you care for it correctly.

By following these tips, your linen items will maintain their quality and softness for years to come!
